The brief

El Tico is one of Jersey's best-loved beachside restaurants. Like many hospitality businesses, it wanted to keep tables full during the quieter months of the year.

Our approach

The idea was simple: a 2-for-1 offer, advertised in the Jersey Evening Post.

The key decision was where not to run it. Islanders love a good deal, and they value feeling that they are getting something special. By keeping the offer in the paper only, we gave it a sense of exclusivity. Readers had to see it in print to take advantage of it.

This approach also played to the strengths of our print audience: loyal, local readers who give the paper their full attention and act on what they see.

The result

The offer proved so popular that El Tico and its 2-for-1 deal are now a regular feature in the Jersey Evening Post. What began as a way to boost trade in the off season has become a familiar and much anticipated part of the paper for our readers.

It is proof that a clear offer, placed in the right environment, can build lasting loyalty for a brand.
